Paper manufacturing requires significant amounts of Energy, Water, and Fiber (including Pulp). At Seaman Paper Company of Massachusetts, we act in an environmentally responsible manner to care for and protect these valuable natural resources.

SEAMAN PAPER is dedicated to providing the highest quality tissue products in a responsible "earth-friendly" manner. It is our continuing goal to keep paper out of America's landfills.

This is what we are doing to help protect our environment:

Our on-site, state of the art Wastewater Treatment & Clarification facility reduces total suspended solids and biochemical oxygen demand by over 99%.

Fresh water usage has been reduced by 22% since 2005 via recycling.

All residuals and paper fibers from the water treatment facility are converted into topsoil at our 300-acre compost facility.

Water-based Inks are utilized at our printing facility.

Post-industrial fiber accounts for 61% of the furnish; post-consumer grades available based on product & quantity.

Electricity usage (per ton of paper) has been reduced by 12% since 2002 via energy conservation programs.

We have transitioned our power source from an oil-based generating system to one predominantly fueled by wood chips (recycled pallets). This reduces net emission of greenhouse gases by 70% — replacing oil with a renewable fuel that quickly reabsorbs greenhouse gases.

Burning "scrap pallet" wood chips provides pallet manufacturers throughout New England the opportunity to dispose of their broken pallets in an environmentally positive fashion, without further impacting area landfills.
